Features

B-3 alloy is a new member of the nickel-molybdenum alloy family and has excellent corrosion resistance to hydrochloric acid at any temperature and concentration. At the same time, it also has good corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid, acetic acid, formic acid, phosphoric acid and other non-oxidizing media. Due to the adjustment of its chemical composition, its thermal stability has been greatly improved compared to the original B-2 alloy. B-3 alloy has high resistance to pitting corrosion, stress corrosion, knife edge corrosion and corrosion in the heat affected zone of welding.

Metallographic Structure

Hastelloy B-3 is a face-centered cubic crystal structure. The iron and chromium content of the alloy is controlled to a minimum, thus preventing its precipitation of Ni4Mo phase between 700-800 ° C, thereby reducing the risk of process embrittlement.

Corrosion Resistance

The properties of Hastelloy B-3 can maintain excellent plastic properties when exposed to medium temperature; excellent pitting and stress corrosion cracking resistance; excellent resistance to knife edge corrosion and heat affected zone corrosion; excellent resistance to acetic acid, acetic acid, phosphoric acid And other non-oxidizing acid properties; excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid corrosion at various concentrations and temperatures.

Applications

B-3 alloy can be applied to all previous B-2 alloys. Like B-2 alloy, B-3 is not recommended for use in the presence of ferric salt and divalent copper salt, because these salts will be very fast. Causes corrosion damage. When hydrochloric acid comes into contact with iron and copper, it will chemically react with it to form a ferric salt and a divalent copper salt.
