Corrosion Resistance


800 can withstand many corrosive media corrosion. In an aqueous corrosive environment, its corrosion resistance is comparable to that of austenitic stainless steel. The high nickel content makes it resistant to stress corrosion cracking, and its high chromium content makes it better resistant to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion. The alloy has good resistance to nitric acid and organic acid corrosion, but has limited corrosion resistance in sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. In addition to pitting corrosion in halides, it also has good corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and non-oxidizing salts. It also has good corrosion resistance in a mixture of water, steam, air and carbon dioxide. It has excellent anti-oxidation, carbonization atmosphere and environmental properties of oxidation and carbonization alternately at high temperatures. Resistance to hydrogen, nitriding and sulfur-containing gases is also very good. In the latter application environment, it is better in oxidizing conditions than in reducing conditions.
